Music connects us all—and this year that connection means everything. Robin Goldsby’s humorous, poignant stories deliver a sparkling, original perspective on a life filled with music.  

Please join AWC Berlin to celebrate the launch of Robin’s new book, Piano Girl Playbook: Notes on A Musical Life, as we raise awareness of our FAWCO Target program.

Proceeds from this event will go to the FAWCO Target Project 2020-2022: S.A.F.E. A Project of Hope for Girls and Women Tanzania.

This event is open to AWC Berlin members, family, and friends.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Please be sure to arrive a few minutes early for check-in. Please read the COVID safelty information below to ensure a smooth check-in.

Cost

The ticket price for this event is €30 per person. All proceeds go to the FAWCO Target Project. Please pay in advance by bank transfer. Bank details are included in your registration and reminder emails. 

Please note: The last day to cancel without payment is October 31. After this date, you will be responsible for payment unless you find someone to take your spot. 

Location and Directions

The concert will be at Steinway Haus Berlin, Lützowufer 28, Berlin. You can take bus 100 or 200 to the stop at Lützowplatz, which is an eight-minute walk from the venue.  You can also take U2 to Wittenbergplatz, a thirty-five-minute walk from the venue.

Robin Meloy Goldsby’s career has taken her from Pittsburgh to posh New York City venues and exclusive resorts and on to the European castles and concert stages where she now performs. Robin, a Steinway Artist, has seven recordings to her name and has appeared, as an author and pianist, on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered and Piano Jazz with Marian McPartland. She is the author of Piano Girl, Rhythm, Waltz of the Asparagus People, and Manhattan Road TripRobin’s newest book, Piano Girl Playbook: Notes on a Musical Life, was published in May 2021 by Backbeat Books.

Goldsby often serves as a cultural ambassador for European organizations dedicated to transatlantic relations. In 2017, she performed her Home & Away program at Buckingham Palace for HRH, the Prince of Wales. She has performed her original music for German Chancellor Angela Merkel (Atlantik Brücke, e.V ); for numerous US Consulates in Europe; for Amerika Haus, e.V. NRW; for Steinway in New York, Berlin, Oslo, Düsseldorf, and Vienna; and for the Federation of American Women’s Clubs Overseas (FAWCO) worldwide.

Stay Safe!

Please read the following carefully, as the Steinway Haus has specific requirements for entry into the venue  that we must follow.

  • Only attend if you feel healthy.

  • Do not attend if

    • you have recently been diagnosed with COVID-19,

    • you or someone you have recently been in close contact is awaiting COVID-19 test results,

    • you have recently been exposed to someone with COVID-19.

  • The Berlin Senate strongly recommends taking a PoC antigen test (Schnelltest, at home or at a test center) before meeting with others outside of your household. 

  • Wearing a medical mask (operating room or FFP2/KN95) is required while inside this venue.

  • The venue requires that a “2G” rule be applied to this event. This means that 

    • you must be fully vaccinated (must have received your second shot at least weeks prior to the event) or be fully recovered (between 28 days and 6 months previous);

    • you must be ready to show proof of vaccination or recovery with an EU QR code (printed or digitally via an app) or a yellow WHO vaccination book (or image of the relevant pages) or a CDC card.

    • you must present a passport as proof of ID when checking in.

  • Per the venue’s requirements, we must share with them all attendees’ names, postal addresses, and email addresses or phone numbers, as well as proof of their 2G status.
