If you are a US citizen, are you registered to vote in the IMPORTANT elections this year?

In 2022, many offices are on the ballot, including the 435 members of the House of Representatives, who serve two-year terms; 35 of the 100 Senate seats, for six-year terms that are staggered; 36 of 50 governorships; and lots of state legislative seats, as well as other state and local offices.

Election day is 8 November in the US, but overseas Americans must vote in early October to get their ballots counted and therefore must register to vote much earlier than that.

Overseas Americans often complain that US law ignores or unintentionally harms us. While voter turnout in the US is much worse than that in many developed countries (around 65% seems to be cause for celebration), turnout for overseas Americans voters is not much higher than 4%. If we do not bother to speak, why should lawmakers listen to our concerns?

Come to our Lunch & Learn conversation with FAWCO’s US Voting Chair Mary-Stewart Burgher, who will talk about what’s at stake, walk you through how to register or check your voting status and how best to make your voice heard with your representatives.
