Artist Biography - Karen Axelrad

Karen Axelrad was raised in Los Angeles, studied at UC Berkeley and got her Masters in Architecture at UCLA where she met her German husband. They had an architecture partnership (Schiedhelm+Partner) in Berlin until his death in 2011. Their archive is at the Berlinische Galerie. She has two grown sons and two granddaughters.

In 2019 she won a Street Photography award at the MIRA Mobile Prize and exhibited in their gallery in Porto. In 2020 she received from them an Honorable Mention.

About the Ceramics Studio:

Since October 2021, AWC Berlin members Lissa Rosenbloom and Beate Tenberg-Spang , can be found in their beautiful ceramics workshop in the Dankelmannkiez in Charlottenburg.

They make beautiful modern things and sculptures out of clay and porcelain and enjoy it very much to have their own workshop, where one can stop by, look over their shoulder and ask questions .
