For the first event in our Speakers Series on Retiring in Germany, we welcome Marina Ramirez to speak on US Social Security for US Persons in Germany.
Her presentation will answer questions such as:
Who is eligible for US Social Security?
How do you request benefits?
What if you have paid into both the US system and the German system (Deutsche Rentenversicherung)? How do the systems work together?
The Zoom session is open to the public, including members of the American Women’s Club of Berlin, and members of FAWCO clubs in Germany, Austria, and beyond.

About our Speaker
Marina Ramirez, a career federal employee, is the Regional Federal Benefits Officer (RFBO) for the Frankfurt Region. The RFBO manages the Federal Benefit Units (FBU) located in Frankfurt, Paris, Warsaw and Krakow. The Frankfurt RFBO administers programs that pay approximately federal benefits to beneficiaries throughout 40 countries in Europe and Africa. Ms. Ramirez has held various positions within the Social Security Administration and has worked for the Department of State since 2019. She has most recently served as the RFBO of the San Jose Region in San Jose, Costa Rica which covered the Western Hemisphere (with the exclusion of beneficiaries residing in Brazil, Canada, the United States, and Mexico).
