Dear {Contact_First_Name}, This month, I'd like to talk to you about community and philanthropy. We hope to see you at two important membership-wide events this month before we all take the summer break. Party with us at the Auction of Talents (open bar, open buffet, live auction) on June 15th and chill with us at our July 4th celebration in the garden. THE POWER OF SHOWING UP: Philanthropy is one the Club’s missions, and we hope it fosters for YOU - our members - a sense of purpose, camaraderie, and fulfillment. On June 15th, as you have heard, we have our most important philanthropic event of the year: the Auction of Talents. In order for it to be successful and to cover our costs, we would like to double the number of registrations we have so far, so please Register on Wild Apricot and bring your partner and friends. Check out the video from former club president/auctioneer Jennifer Post Dräger about the event. Read more about our philanthropy below and we hope you will show up to support the Club and our charity.
HELP WANTED: I regret to announce that our dedicated Board secretary Annamaria Thal has resigned from her post for personal reasons. Throughout her time on the Board (2023-2024), Annamaria has been an invaluable member of our team. Her dedication, professionalism, and attention to detail have significantly contributed to our success and smooth operations. We are truly grateful for her hard work and commitment.
We are now seeking a new Board Secretary to join our team until the end of year. If you are interested in being part of the Club’s leadership team, please let me know by Friday, May 31, 2024. Primary responsibilities are attending and taking minutes at monthly Board meetings, and checking-in members at membership-wide events. Time commitment: ca. 5 hours a month.mailto:president.awcberlin@gmail.com
Annamaria was also the club's FAWCO Rep so we are looking for a new FAWCO Representative. Primary responsibilities are to share FAWCO news with club members in our monthly newsletter, and to represent AWC Berlin at FAWCO’s annual global conference and regional meeting (meeting fees will be covered by the Club). If you are interested in the work of FAWCO, our UN accredited international network organization, please feel free to reach out to me for more details.
Enjoy the lovely weather and I hope to see you on June 15th! Xo

Do you have questions about the financial implications of being an American in Germany? Join AWC Berlin members Arielle Tucker, CFP® & EA, and Emily Haines, CPA, for a Q&A session about the tax and financial considerations of life outside the US. You are welcome to submit comments or questions before the event by emailing info@connectedfinancialplanning.com. Arielle and Emily would like to make this a fundraiser so there will be a suggested donation of €10, to be collected at the door.

Our most important philanthropic event this year is the Auction of Talent. You’ve heard a lot about this by now. The Club needs your support! We had planned for 80 people to attend to cover our costs (current registrations are at 40+) so if you are free, please join us for this FUN club-wide event. REGISTER here. Even if you are not in Berlin, you can still participate in the Auction by reviewing the CATALOG OF AUCTION ITEMS and submit your MAX BID and the LOT# to president.awcberlin@gmail.com.

2023 yielded a surplus of funds so the Board voted to sponsor an apartment for 2024 at our longtime charity the Ronald McDonald House Berlin-Wedding (see photo). You can visit the AWC Berlin apartment at our next quarterly volunteer cooking evening there. Look out for the date on Wild Apricot.

This year, we’re celebrating July 4th (on June 30th) at home. AWC Berlin member Jeannette Weichhardt has graciously opened up her home and garden to us for a Potluck Sunday Evening BBQ. Partners are invited, but unfortunately we cannot accommodate children because there is a large unfenced swimming pool. REGISTER HERE.
