THE BEAR FACTS SUMMER 2024

Dear {Contact_First_Name},
Happy 4th of July! The summer is upon us, and our Club activities slow down over the next two months as many of us head out on holiday travels. A few of our events will carry on and Berlin has endless possibilities to keep you busy, check out the list below and reach out to fellow members on FB or in our WhatsApp community for company. See you first week of September when the Club will be back in force with a Welcome Back Weekend: Biergarten on Thursday Sept 5, Kaffee Klatsch on Friday Sept 6, and tour of the Teufelsberg on Saturday Sept 7.
We had a terrific celebration on Sunday at our Fourth of July Potluck BBQ. BIG Thank You to Jeannette and Martin Weichhardt for hosting us at their beautiful home, and to our team of volunteers. Despite the rain, we had a wonderful get-together for our annual summer celebration.
Summer is my absolute favorite time of year - taking a PAUSE without having to feel guilty is such a luxury. I read in the sun, binge on good TV, and listen to fun summer music. Sometimes, doing absolutely NOTHING gives my mind an opportunity to wander ... letting it just RECEIVE ... new impulses, inspiration, energy. Just like my body needs sleep to regenerate, I think my mind needs the summer to reawaken. So I let go of the to-do list, get into the PAUSE (German for "break") mode, relax and receive! Wishing you the chance to do the same.
Before I sign off, please be reminded that RSVPs for our 130th Anniversary Gala are due by July 15. Click here to RSVP. I hope to see you all at our milestone celebration.
Have a wonderful summer!

Among internationally mobile people, summer is a particularly common time for change. Indeed, several of our members are moving away from Berlin this summer. Though we are sad to see them go, we wish each of our departing members good luck as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
**Did you know that even after you have left Berlin, you can continue to be an alumni member of AWC Berlin? If you are interested in maintaining your connection to our community, please contact membership@awcberlin.org.
**For those repatriating to the USA, consider becoming a member of FAUSA, the alumnae arm of FAWCO. To learn more about membership, contact membership@fausa.org.
**If you are moving elsewhere in the world, check out the FAWCO website to see if there is a FAWCO member club in or near your new neck of the woods! Wherever you find yourself in this world, safe travels, stay healthy and stay in touch. Auf Wiedersehen!

Thank you to everyone - donors, bidders, volunteers and attendees - who contributed to our successful FUN-raiser Auction of Talents event in June. Together, we raised over €4,700 for our Berlin charity, the ReDI School of Digital Integration. We have put the events with remaining open spots on Wild Apricot, please check them out - they are identified with AoT in their name. In July, there are a children’s art workshop on July 7, and an adult Paint & Sip workshop on July 13th.
