The AWC Berlin Newsletter

The Bear Facts

June 2019

Dear {Contact_First_Name},

Everything is out! The sun, the flowers, the people, school (almost) and apparently leopard printthough I wouldn't toss anything, as it all comes back. The AWC will be winding down for summer soon, but there are many events packed into the next few weeks. We hope to see you at many of them, but especially the American-style BBQ on June 16th (details below). This will be our big send-off event.

I know it's nuts to start talking about autumn already, but your dedicated AWC volunteer team has several fantastic events in the works. This will be our last newsletter until September, so we'll communicate key autumn/winter dates by email and Facebook as they solidify in the coming weeks. Did I just say winter? Good grief, let's get back to summer.

If you are in Berlin over the summer and would like to organize a get together, feel free to post on our private Facebook group and/or email me if you'd like it added to AWC's official calendar.

Before signing off, I'd like to say thank you to the many dedicated and generous members who give their time, offer their homes, and lend their expertise to the club. Whether it's setting up chairs at an event or running an entire program, it takes every volunteer to make our club the robust organization that it is. I'm so grateful to each of you.

Love, Janel

Volunteer Opportunity: Member Buddy Program

We are beginning a new program to connect new members to current members.  The membership team will introduce member pairs based on a commonality, such as the neighborhood in which they live, the school their children attend, or their profession.

We need YOU to volunteer as a buddy!  All that's required is a phone call or email to the new member, welcoming her personally to AWC, and potentially making a plan to meet at an upcoming AWC event. Please email Karen and Ali to let them know you're volunteering as a Member Buddy!

Volunteer Spotlight

Without dedicated volunteers, there would be no AWC Berlin. From every activity to administrative function, there are members stepping up to make this club a rich social, cultural and philanthropic outlet for our 250+ members. If you'd like to nominate a member, please email newsletter@awcberlin.org

Thank you, Emi Bevacqua!

Since joining the club 3 years ago, Emi has quietly and generously stepped up to help at numerous events, to run and host morning book club, to help with back-end administrative support, and to produce our monthly newsletterwhich requires no small amount of wrangling cats and tracking details. She is a thoughtful, conscientious, and reliable volunteer, and a dangerous supplier of homemade baked goods. To be clear, her help is quiet, but her joyful greeting and laugh will knock you back and make every event that much more fun. We wish Emi and her family the very best in London, and welcome them back for a visit any time. Hopefully, many times.  Nominated by Janel Schermerhorn
