The AWC Berlin Newsletter

The Bear Facts

October 2019

Dear {Contact_First_Name},

I know most of you were able to join at least one (if not many) of the fantastic AWC events in September, and hopefully you've also been able to participate in one of the many Berlin community and cultural events. This past weekend, I saw two members go whizzing by my house as participants in the Berlin Marathon. I also saw several members dancing up a storm at one of the many Oktoberfest celebrations. What an incredible life we have here in Berlin.

If you were able to join the moving Ascending Afghanistan: Women Rising screening then you are likely joining me in feeling extra grateful for this life we have. Women around the globe are in different places in their journey toward equality and freedom; and I am optimistic that we will all achieve those goals with so many smart, powerful, and effective women at the helm.

Supporting each other starts with the simplest framework of building community, which is what we have here in the AWC. I look forward to seeing you this month.

Love, Janel

Volunteer Spotlight

Without dedicated volunteers, there would be no AWC Berlin. From every activity to administrative function, there are members stepping up to make this club a rich social, cultural and philanthropic outlet for our 250+ members. If you'd like to nominate a member, please email newsletter@awcberlin.org

Thank you, Kris and Debbie!

Four times a year, this dedicated duo plans, shops, wrangles a team of AWC volunteers and cooks a fabulous and healthy meal for families living in the Ronald McDonald House here in Berlin. They are sometimes serving up to 50 people, and always with a smile. These ladies don't just serve food, they create a social space for volunteers, RMDH employees and residents to enjoy each other and focus on sharing a meal.

All AWC members are welcome to volunteer their time at one of these events.
